We’re launching an exciting feature for the technical people.

You can now convert a UI-based question to a SQL-based question to explore beyond what you have defined in your semantic layer.

Let’s check it out!

I might be looking at our definition of gross revenue, and want to see what it looks like if we remove discounts from the gross definition instead of just from the net revenue definition.

Here, I’ll click on “switch to SQL editor” and then I can explore beyond my UI question in pure SQL, letting me test anything I want to.

Now that I’ve converted my question to SQL, I can quickly test that definition change and see if it makes sense for me to update the semantic layer.

When I’m done exploring, I can click the back to question button and go right back into my UI-powered data exploration.

Note: This feature will only be available to users with Develop or Admin permissions.
